The Coxswain Grade 3 Skillset provides a complete training pathway for people starting a career in the commercial marine industry. It combines the essential theory, practical training, and assessment into one program, making it ideal for those who are new to commercial boating and want to build the required skills from the ground up.
Designed for aspiring commercial vessel operators, this course is well suited to those who do not yet have extensive boating experience, a recreational boat licence, or the sea service required for a direct assessment pathway.
Throughout the program, you’ll develop confidence in safe vessel operations, seamanship, navigation fundamentals, and practical boat handling through a combination of online study and hands-on, on-water training.
After successfully meeting the training and certification requirements, you’ll be eligible to apply for the Coxswain Grade 3 Certificate of Competency, allowing you to operate eligible commercial vessels under the applicable operational limits set by Australian maritime regulations.
